Around 10,000 truck drivers got out-of-service orders for not speaking English

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy announced that 9500 truck drivers got “out-of-service” (OOS) orders in 2025 due to increased enforcement of English language proficiency, GoCDL.us portal for truck drivers in the U.S. and Canada informs.

He said thousands more of truck drivers’ CDLs will be suspended for failing to understand signs/instructions for violating English language proficiency rules.

Let us remind, that the driver must understand road signs, communicate with authorities and fill out documents.

Until 2025, this was checked randomly , but after the White House decree of April 2025, control was strengthened.

English language proficiency (ELP) violations have once again become grounds for CDL suspensions since June of 2025
