The Secretary of Transportation has called on the governors of 3 states to strengthen their CDL regulations

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has called on the governors of California, Colorado, and Washington to stop delaying the implementation of non-domestic CDL regulations and prioritize the safety of American citizens, GoCDL.us informs.

He has accused these states of not revoking commercial driver’s licenses issued to undocumented immigrants who lack the necessary qualifications.

Duffy said that such actions by governors put the lives of Americans at risk by allowing unqualified illegal immigrants to drive trucks weighing up to 80,000 pounds.

The federal government has already begun the process of withholding funds from California due to non-compliance, even though the state has stated its intention to comply with the regulations.

The Secretary emphasized that governors should revoke such licenses to protect roads and citizens instead of supporting illegal immigrants.

“This is about keeping people safe on the road. Your families, your kids, your spouses, your loved ones, your friends. We all use the roadway, and we need to make sure that those who are driving big rigs — semis — can understand the road signs, that they’ve been well trained,” Duffy said.

He also noted that he would withhold federal funds from states that put lives at risk and hold driving schools accountable for issuing licenses to incompetent drivers.
